Dear America is a series of projections featuring artworks by AAPI artists, lighting up the Bay Area in solidarity. Projections include artworks by Christine Wong Yap, Mel Chin x For Freedoms, Christy Chan, Jenifer K. Wofford, Cathy Lu and more.

The project is an artist-organized initiative that is happening in the Bay Area. In the spirit of the right of Asian Americans to take up space, projections appear unsanctioned, guerilla-style from June 2021 - August 1st. Our volunteer film production teams set up, project, and then disappear again until the next projection. Projections will be appearing in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, the Peninsula and South Bay. From a project founding member: “Asian Americans have been here since the 1800’s. It is only due to the whitewashing of American history, that brown and yellow Americans are still fighting for the right to be recognized for their rightful space of belonging. We unapologetically and joyfully project the presence of AAPI artists speaking to the larger Bay Area community.”
